Saskia Klemencic

Saskia Klemencic has been riding for 30 years. Raised on a horse farm, as a child she already had deep contact with horses, whether her own or the farm horses – from tiny ponies to draught horses. Already at that time she had a strong attraction to problematical horses, could empathize with them and help other horse owners to handle them.

At the age of 10, she began riding dressage. She took private lessons and participated in courses, which culminated in the German Equitation medal. But Saskia was searching for more. Mere technical knowledge of how to compel a horse to mechanical exercises was not enough for her. She sought the good inner connection in handling horses, and refinement, lightness and harmony in riding.

One day, with an especially difficult horse, Saskia Klemencic came up against her personal limits. The horse constantly threw everyone who tried to mount him. She searched for a solution and found the answer to her questions with contemporary Horsemen. From this time, she became intensely involved with natural horsemanship principles. Saskia has worked in the last 10 years to assimilate and implement the teachings of Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt, Dr. Robert M. Miller, Leslie Desmond, Mark Rashid, Jean-Claude Dysli, Phillip Nye and Steve Halfpenny. She does this strongly in theory and practice, in daily training with her own horses, or with clients’ horses, as well as in various select courses. The personal encounters with Pat Parelli and Leslie Desmond helped Saskia to deepen and broaden her knowledge. She also learned much from many lesser-known horsemen of our time, who likewise command enormous knowledge.

Also, she learned from each horse anew, that it possessed its own personality, which must be recognized and considered, to which she always individually responds. Horsemanship is a lifelong study that never ends, but can only be refined.
